The Tesla Cyberturk – one of the most polarising vehicles out there – is finally reaching the start of its commercial production run, more than three years after its unveiling back in 2019.

Tesla’s Chief designer Franz von Holzhausen, recently revealed on the Ride the Lightning podcast that the design of the Cybertruck was completed.

This came when the host, Ryan McCaffrey, asked if the Cybertruck was completed ā€œfrom a design perspective,ā€ Franz von Holzhausen replied, ā€œYeah. Basically, yes,ā€ and didn’t contradictĀ McCaffrey when he suggested that Cybertruck is now in its initial production phase, with production to begin within the next six months.

This comes as drone footage by Joe Tegtmeyer from around Tesla’s newest Texas factory reveals large equipment arriving at the casting area of the plant. That’s the large IDRA 9000 Tonne casting machine that will be used to build the Cybertruck body.

The most recent video shows the assembly of the GigaPress inside the Texas factory. This process can take up to a few weeks given the size of this gigantic machine.Ā

Tesla has also advertised many Cubertruck job positions which adds to the belief that Cybertruck production is only a couple of months away.Ā

In the podcast interview, von Holzhausen also shared that the Cybertruck has many features that the customers were not yet aware of which have been added since the initial unveiling back in 2019.Ā

He did not elaborate on what they were. But it will likely be Ā great news for the more than 1.6 million reservation holders that have been tallied according to a crowd-sourced Cybertruck reservations tracker. This has made the Cybertruck one of the most sought-after vehicles ever built.

All signs point to a mid-2023 production date for the Cybertruck. It’s unlikely that hundreds of Australian order holders will be seeing their right-hand drive Cybertrucks delivered before 2025 – if at all – because it will be dependent on if it can get approval for Australian roads.
