With mass production of the long-awaited Cybertruck ute reported to begin by the end of 2023, Tesla has begun posting job ads seeking workers for the Giga Texas manufacturing facility.
Spotted by Electrek and confirmed on Tesla’s LinkedIn and careers website, the EV maker is seeking a number of Cybertruck production-related positions for its gigafactory in Austin.
News published earlier this month by Reuters quoted “two people with knowledge of the plans” who revealed that mass production of the Cybertruck would begin at the end of 2023.
After its original announcement back in late 2019, consistent delays have seen Tesla push back initial production timing from late 2021 to late 2022, then to early 2023, and most recently to a mid-2023 target.
This, despite the fact that thousands of potential customers have put down a $US100 reservation fee for an electric ute they may not see until 2025 or 2026.
Among the jobs Tesla is looking to fill is ‘Manufacturing Operations Leader – Cybertruck’. While it seems odd not to have already filled this position, Tesla’s description of the job sets some lofty goals:.
“You will be responsible for meeting the production forecast and ensuring company goals are achieved. The ideal candidate will have a track record of significant achievements, tremendous drive, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves,” it continues.
The qualifying applicant will be responsible “for all Cybertruck operations, including production, maintenance, engineering, and future projects at Gigafactory Texas” and will “work closely with executive leaders”.
