The now Chinese-owned MG has reduced the prices of its top-selling MG4 Urban EV, making a $2,000 cash-back offer for purchases made before the end of this month.
The MG4 Urban was launched earlier this year with a starting price of $31,990 driveaway, which makes it the brand’s lowest-priced electric vehicle offering in the country and also beats the BYD Dolphin on price.
The $2,000 cashback brings down the driveaway price to $29,990 for the entry Essence 43 variant, while the top-spec Essence 54 also sees driveaway price reduced to $32,990.
This offer is for buyers of the model who purchase and take delivery of their MG4 Urban before the end of September.
The brand’s most recent electric model is offered in two variants, with two different battery packs.
Customers can choose between a 43 kWh battery pack and a larger 54 kWh battery pack and a range starting from around 316 km to just over 400 kms. Both are expected to be Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) packs.
Power comes from a 110 kW front-mounted motor, producing up to 250 Nm of torque. This helps the car accelerate from 0-100 km/h in around 9 seconds.
On the inside, there are black and grey fabric seats with a 12.8-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Satellite navigation is also standard on the base model.
Outside, the car features quite a nice-looking set of 17-inch wheels along with roof rails and rear spoiler coming as standard.
At the front, there are also LED headlights and daytime running lights (DRL). The headlights also feature automatic functionality, which is rare in cars at this price point.
On top of that, there is the MG Pilot ADAS suite offered as standard too, allowing features like highway cruise control.
The Essence 54 variant offers more range, starting with a headline WLTP range of 405 km. This variant will feature a slightly more powerful 118 kW front-mounted motor ,which also produces up to 250 Nm of torque. This will help the car sprint from 0-100 km/h in 8.7 seconds.
AC charging speeds of 6.6 kW is on offer for both variants and DC charging speeds of up to 150 kW are available, helping the car charging from 10-80% in around 30 minutes.
So far, the brand has sold over 2,600 MG4 Urbans in 2026, after deliveries began in May.
Given the popularity of the previous model, which sold over 13,000 units, the MG4 Urban, which is more affordable and now sees this price cut, could also be one of the company’s best-sellers in 2026 at prices not seen in this segment before.
