The Volvo C40 Recharge is built on a dedicated EV platform but still shares many parts with the EX40 including its battery and electric motors. From the 2024 model year, single-motor C40 variants switched from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive.
Volvo stopped selling the C40 in Australia during 2025, despite initial plans to bring a new version with the EC40 name. Instead, they decided to focus on their other EV models such as the EX30, EX40 and EX90.
