Genesis, the luxury brand from Hyundai, has been gradually expanding its EV offerings, highlighted by the recent upgrades and improvements in the GV60 electric SUV.

Now, it appears that a larger electric SUV from the South Korean brand has been spotted in Sydney, per the photos of a heavily camouflaged car were taken by Jeff C and reshared on X by Roland from ZappedAu.

According to NSW registration system, the Genesis GV90 has a tare weight of 3,151 kg. It’s classified as an evaluation vehicle, likely in Australia for on-road testing ahead of launch.

According to earlier reports, the GV90 is expected to incorporate a unique design, coming with a rear-hinged coach doors that gets rid of the need for a central B-pillar.

This pillar-less design has previously been seen in vehicles like the Zeekr Mix, which we test drove in China back in 2024.

It could mean that like the Zeekr Mix, the GV90 could include features such as swivel seats for greater passenger interaction.

This large SUV will be based on Hyundai Motor Group’s Integrated Modular Architecture (IMA), a platform designed for its EVs.

Given its a full-size luxury SUV around 5 metres in length, the GV90 is expected to compete with models from established premium brands, such as the Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW X7, Volvo EX90, Audi Q9 and the Zeekr 9X.

Specs, pricing and other model details are likely to be released in the coming months, ahead of its launch.

The latest sighting comes only weeks after the launch of the performance orientated GV60 Magma variant, which The Driven team has tested on Australian roads.
