BYD has released details of the two-door electric supercar that it first unveiled last year, including an eye-watering price and a remarkable set of performance specs.
The Denza Z will pack more than 1,100 kw of power and achieve the 0-100 km/h sprint time in just 1.96 seconds, and will come at a starting price equivalent to $A270,000.
The announcement was shared by BYD on X with the caption saying: āBorn to perform, built to win.” The Denza Z was on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and described by BYD as “living sculpture of speed. Every curve is engineered for aerodynamic performance, while a 1,604 PS triple-motor platform delivers 0-100km/h in as little as 1.96 seconds.ā
The Denza Z European pricing and key specs of the three variants include:
Coupe – Ā£142,900, 0-100 km/h acceleration: 2.25 s, Top Speed: 300 km/h
Spider -Ā£159,900, 0-100 km/h acceleration: 2.3 s, Top Speed: 300 km/h
Racing – Ā£172,900, 0-100 km/h acceleration: 1.96 s, Top Speed: 350 km/h
These prices translate to range of between $A270,000 to just over $A334,000.
At the Goodwood Festival, the company also announced that the new Z will start customer deliveries before the end of the year and will come equipped with a 76 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack with flash charging capabilities, allowing a 10-97% charge in just 9 minutes.
The model will be available as a hard top and soft top configuration, providing plenty of customisation for enthusiasts.
We can also see the aggressive front bumper styling and overall, some paint options have a matte finish, hinting at what paint options could be on offer for the two-door coupe.
There’s also quite a few interior and wheel options for the model, details of which will be revealed in the coming months.
In the renders seen previously, the Z includes large wheels with yellow brake callipers for heavy braking as well as the huge rear spoiler that will improve the Denza Zās aerodynamics during track driving. We now know that is the top-spec racing edition.
BYD first revealed the Denza Z concept at the Shanghai auto show just over 12 months ago in April 2025. The unveiling of what was then a concept car showcased several new technologies.
These included the DiSus-M suspension system, a foldable steering wheel, and a steer-by-wire system.
The Denza Z is not the companyās first sports car. That car is the Yangwang U9, which debuted at the Shanghai auto show in 2023 and, as of last year, holds the record for fastest production car.
According to BYD, the U9 Xtreme recorded a top speed of 496.22 km/h at Germanyās ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg facility.
More details about the Denza Z are to be unveiled in the coming months, with a planned global launch.
