Chinese electric carmaker Leapmotor says its new Leapmotor B05 electric hatchback will arrive in Australian dealerships in late August and will be priced from $35,990 drive-away in a special introductory offer.
Leapmotor began pre-sales in China for the B05 in November with a promise that international sales would eventually follow.
This week, Leapmotor confirmed that the B05 would soon be available in Australia in both an entry-level ‘Style’ variant and a ‘Design Long Range’.
Pricing for the Leapmotor B05 starts from $35,990 for the Style with a drive-away offer, and $39,990 for the Design LR, though these drive-away offers are available on models bought in Lightning Yellow and delivered between 1 July and 30 September, or while stocks last.
Boasting range of up to 401 kilometres (WLTP) for the Style and up to 482km for the Design LR, the B05 combines a coupe-inspired design, rear-wheel-drive dynamics, and intelligent technology to deliver what Leapmotor promises is a car built for modern urban drivers.
The B05 Style features a 56.2kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery while the Design LR boosts a bigger 67.1kWh LFP battery that delivers the longer range. Both models support 11kW AC charging and ultra-fast DC charging that enables charging from 30 to 80 per cent in approximately 16 minutes for the Style and 18 minutes for the Design LR thanks to fast charging up to 174kW.
Both variants feature an electric motor putting out 160kW of power and 240Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0-100km/h in 7.5 seconds for the Style and 6.7 seconds for the Design LR. A rear-wheel-drive layout and a balanced 50:50 weight distribution and chassis tuning provides for what Leapmotor describes as a “dynamic yet refined driving experience.”

A compact footprint makes the B05 ideal for urban environments, measuring 4,430mm in length, 1,880mm in width, and with a 2,735mm wheelbase, while ensuring a spacious interior.
Safety features include a 7-airbag system (including centre airbag) and 21 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) features that are backed by 14 sensors and cameras and can deliver Level 2 driver assistance.
In addition to previous ADAS systems available, the Leapmotor B05 introduces automatic lane change (ALC), front vehicle departure warning (FVDW), front cross traffic assist (FCTA), and front cross traffic brake (FCTB).
Inside, premium materials and detailing are matched by a 14.6-inch floating touchscreen and 8.8-inch driver display powered by the LEAP OS 4.0 Plus system. Flexible cargo capacity ranges from up to 1,205 litres with the rear seats folded.
