MG last month announced that it will be cutting prices on its MG4 electric hatchback models as a cashback offer for customers who purchase a car in January 2026 as part of the āSummer Savingsā offers.
Now this cashback summer saving of up to $5,000 on the popular electric hatch has been extended to the end of February.
The MG4 driveaway prices have seen these price cuts and now have the lineup pricing of:
- MG4 51 kWh RWD Excite – $36,302 driveaway (down by $4,000)
- MG4 64 kWh RWD Excite – $40,470 driveaway (down by $4,000)
- MG4 64 kWh RWD Essence – $42,554 driveaway (down by $4,000)
- MG4 77 kWh RWD Essence LR – $46,722 driveaway (down by $4,000)
- MG4 64 kWh AWD X-power – $48,848 driveaway (down by $5,000)
The entry-level variant comes with a 51 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery pack, which delivers up to 350 km of WLTP range.Ā Ā
This is paired with a rear-mounted 125 kW motor, enabling the car to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds.
There is also vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality and Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, which are featured even in the base variant of the MG4.
The Excite and Essence variants, with a 64 kWh battery pack, can deliver up to 450 km of range on a single charge, which is nearly 100 km more than the Excite 51 variant.

The Essence 77 features a 77 kWh battery pack, which will deliver up to 530 km of range on a single charge.
MG4 also comes with MGās benchmark warranty program that includes a 10-year or 250,000 km warranty across its entire range.Ā
Earlier this week, we also reported that MG launched its refreshed, affordable 2026 MG4 EV in the UK market with multiple changes that will please many. Thatās likely to be seen in the Australian lineup in the months to come, with a likely return to the standard pricing without this cashback offer.
There is also a new, more rounded, 2026 MG4 EV āUrbanā with a front-wheel-drive (FWD) thatās heading to Europe and has been previously spotted testing in Australia, which would form the more affordable electric hatchback from the brand.
We also saw recent price cuts and offers from Tesla, BYD and Geely, helping drive momentum towards EV offerings the brands have in Australia.
We will see the impact of the January specials in the coming days when the FCAI vFacts and EVC data are released. From what we can see, itās going to be a bumper year for EV sales once again.
