We get behind the wheel of the brand-new Škoda Elroq, the medium-sized all-electric SUV that finally joins the Enyaq in Škoda’s Aussie lineup. With a WLTP range of up to 529km, practical design, and premium touches, does the Elroq have what it takes to challenge rivals like the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6?

It looks good and Skoda went for sensible practicality that I think most buyers want. Tricked up 3.8 sec accelerating cars are very slick and might get me to Coles a smidgin quicker but this a sensible SUV aiming for transitioning buyers - I like it.
And it comes in colours other than black and silver
I don't think it is the most practical EV under $60k.
Range - it is beaten by the Kia EV3 Air LR (604kms), BYD Seal Premium (570 kms) and MG4 LR77 (530 kms).
Charging - AC charging at 11 kWs is equalled by quite a few of its competitors, but for DC charging its max rate is beaten by the Xpeng G6 (215 kWs).
V2L - this Elroq does not provide V2l whereas most of its competitors do.
Towing capacity - the Zeekr X and Smart #1 Pro+ are rated for 1,600 kgs, the Epeng G6 SR, Deepal S07 and Leapmotor C10 are rated for 1,500 kgs whereas the Elroq is only rated for 1,200 kgs braked towing capacity.
Warranty - it is beaten by the 10 year warranties for MGs and the Xpeng G6.
Over the Air Updates - this is not supported by the Elroq but is supported by most of its competitors.
Its also missing some other practical conveniences such as a HUD and hands free tail gate.
