Volkswagen is offering a free home EV charger and standard installation for the first 500 customers to purchase a 2025 ID.4 Pro or 2025 ID.5 GTX in Australia.
Volkswagen hopes that this offer will add even more value to the list price of the two cars, which come in at $59,990 for the ID.4 Pro and $72,990 for the ID.5 GTX (all before on-road costs).
“We’ve recently talked about how hard we’re driving to achieve the best position for ID. 4 and ID. 5,” said Arjun Nidigallu, Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles national product manager.
“The inclusion of a home charging solution for customers is yet another example that demonstrates Volkswagen’s ongoing commitment to making BEV ownership easy – with greater assurance and accessibility thanks to our partners Ampol and Volkswagen Group Australia’s On EV programme.”
It has taken many years for Volkswagen to bring its headline “simply better electric SUVs” to Australia’s shores, with pricing for both models only unveiled in February, and only the ID.4 Pro and ID.5 GTX variants available.
The ID.4 Pro boasts range of up to 544km (WLTP) and a rear-wheel-drive powertrain delivering 210kW of power and 545Nm of torque. Accelerating from 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds, the Pro also comes with Sport electronic stability control (ESC) function, 19-inch alloy wheels, Adaptive Chassis Control adaptive suspension and progressive steering.
Similarly, the ID.5 GTX boasts a toned-down range of 522km (WLTP) due to its increased power output of 250kW, allowing it to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 5.4 seconds.
With both the ID.4 Pro and ID.5 GTX currently available for order, deliveries are currently expected to begin in the middle of the year.
The offer consists of a 7kW home EV charger plus standard installation including up to 20 metres of cabling, safety switch, circuit breaker, and installation by a certified installer – a total value of $1,899, though customers will be responsible for any installation variations exceeding $100 in value, such as trenching or custom-mounting solutions.
