Xpeng, one of the newest EV brands in Australia, has officially launched the updated 2025 G6 electric SUV in China with cheaper pricing and faster charging speeds, helping the updated model become one of the fastest-charging cars in the world.
The new G6 prices start at over 11% lower than the existing model, according to reports from cnevpost, with it now starting at the equivalent of $A38,600.
The top-spec variant of the new G6 has also seen reduced prices, coming in at under $A43,500.
For reference, the previous model G6 prices ranged between the equivalent of $A44,300 to $A$61,300 in China. Meanwhile, local variants of the G6 are available in the Long Range variant, starting at under $A55,000.
Charging speeds have also been improved significantly, less than two years after the model was unveiled in April 2023.Ā

The latest generation offers 10-80% charging in just 12 minutes with its 800 V architecture, getting it close to the Australian-bound Zeekr 7X, which still holds the title for the fastest-charging production car.
The batteries that enable this are a 68.5 kWh Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) and the 80.8 kWh Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) battery pack, expected to be in the Long Range variant.
There are also improvements to the chassis, with comfort levels improved due to the use of an upgraded dual-wishbone suspension system with hydraulic damping.
On the self-driving tech in the new G6, the car now packs 8 Megapixel front and rear cameras and two Nvidia Orin intelligent driving chips, helping the car achieve high levels of LiDAR-free self-driving.
Other key changes include a new light bar at the front of the car, updated bumpers, a new light strip with a spoiler at the rear, new paint options after removing Orange from the lineup, new wheels, ambient lighting with an upgraded interior, bigger centre-screen and more.

The car is also slightly longer, with 5 mm added over the existing model, bringing the total length of the car to 4,758 mm.
The G6 model was first unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in 2023 and was dubbed the brandās most important car. The first customer deliveries of this model to Chinese customers started in the second half of the year.
For the right-hand-drive markets like Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia, deliveries of the first Xpeng models will begin in the second half of 2024.
Over the last month, Xpeng has further expanded into more right-hand-drive markets like the UK, starting with the G6 again as the market-entry model and other models to follow.
This highlights the importance of this model and the significance of the upgraded model, which is destined for more international markets than the current generation.

We recently drove the Xpeng G6 in Melbourne and found it one of the most well-rounded EVs on the market.Ā
Locally, Xpeng sales so far have not been reported, so itās been unclear how the brand is developing in our local market, given the quality of this premium G6 SUV.
Latest data compiled by carloop shows that 224 G6 electric SUVs have made it to the eastern seaboard roads over the first two months of 2025. This includes Xpeng G6 vehicles registered in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
The new G6 appears to be quite a big step up in technology, and we canāt wait to get behind the wheel when it lands on our shores. This model will likely arrive at our local shores later in 2025.
