MG, which outsold Tesla in October due to aggressive pricing, has released December pricing for Australiaās most affordable electric car, the MG4 Excite 51, keeping it at $32,990 driveaway.
In addition, the MG4 Excite 64 variant, which has a bigger battery that adds 100 km of range, is now priced at $34,990 driveaway.
Other MG4 variants are also currently on special, with a factory bonus of up to $8,000 on offer. These include the Essence 64 and Long Range 77, as well as the dual-motor hot-hatch X-Power, which can accelerate up to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.
āMG saw an incredible response to the pricing offers on the MG4 in October,” MG Motor Australiaās chief commercial officer Giles Belcher said in a statement.
“Our dealerships across the country were able to help Australians switch to EV driving with the MG4. It has been recognised with more than 15 global awards. Across the MG4 range, buyers can own a fantastic car, backed by our industry leading 10-year warranty and a five-star ANCAP safety rating.ā
Both MG4 Excite 51 and 64 variants come with a few highlighted features, which include:
- MG4 Excite 51 driving range of 350km, 450km for the Excite 64 (WLTP)
- 0-100km/h in just 7.7 seconds for the 51kWh, 7.2 seconds for the 64kWh models
- Apple CarPlayĀ® & Android AutoĀ® as standard
- 50:50 weight distribution and rear-wheel drive
- 5-Star ANCAP Safety rating
āThere are great value deals across the full MG4 range. These price offers finish at the end of the year and will never be repeated,” Belcher said.
“Our network of nearly 100 dealers across Australia is only too happy to help customers have an amazing Christmas present of unwrapping a bow on their new MG4.ā
MG is also keeping prices on its ZS EV SUV low, with the Essence starting at $36,990 (down from $39,990 driveway) and the Long Range at $42,990 driveaway. The pricing on the Long Range variant is down from nearly $60,000 driveaway in some states last year.
In addition to this offer, MG also has a benchmark warranty program that includes a 10-year or 250,000 km warranty across its entire range, including the MG4ās Excite 51 and 64 variants.Ā
This was changed in August when the brand decided to increase it from a 7-year warranty the company previously offered on its Australian-delivered vehicles.
In the first 10 months of the year, MG4 has been the brandās best-selling EV, with 2024 sales of over 5,200 cars, nearly getting to the third spot for year-to-date EV sales in October.Ā
Much of this was due to the brand’s $30,990 driveaway offer in September and October, which helped it sell 1486 MG4 during October.
In November, the base model’s price was increased to $32,990, and the offer is continuing in December, which is great news for those looking at getting behind the wheel of an EV.
The latest prices on the MG4 and the low prices on the ZS EV variants will help the brand have its best year for EV sales so far, setting the stage for a strong 2025 when it aims to launch multiple new models in our market. The latest pricing is effective until 31 December 2024.
