The now Chinese-owned auto brand MG has confirmed that its Cyberster electric convertible roadster will be launched in Australia in the fourth quarter of this year, with prices starting from at least $100,000.
The SAIC Motor-owned marque officially unveiled the MG Cyberster in May 2023, and early models have since been repeatedly spotted in both New South Wales and Victoria conducting road tests.
Though MG have promised complete specifications will be released closer to launch – claiming that local specifications are not confirmed yet – it was announced on Tuesday that the Cyberster is now available for pre-order ahead of the launch in the fourth quarter.
No specific price has been announced, but MG Motor Australia’s national sales manager, Brad Chruszcz, said that “the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) range will fall between $100,000 and $150,000.”
“The Cyberster will be offered with a fully electric fabric hood available in either a deep red or black which can be opened or closed in as little as 15 seconds,” said Chruszcz.
“At this stage, the all-wheel-drive Cyberster promises to be a compelling yet refined drive as we’re only looking to bring the 77kWh AWD variant to Aussie shores.”

As it stands, MG will only “be bringing limited numbers” of the Cyberster to Australia, which will feature a luxurious and technologically advanced cabin that the company hopes “catapults the grand touring experience into the electric era”.
While we don’t have any confirmed local specifications, the UK dual-motor model boasts up to 375kW power and 725Nm of torque, with acceleration of 0-100km/h in only 3.2 seconds and a WLTP-rated driving range of 444km.
And, given that the UK also drives on the left-hand side of the road and steers on the right of the car, these could be one-to-one specifications for the eventual Australian Cyberster.
A Q4 Australia launch also marks a relatively quick arrival Down Under, with the UK Cyberster models available in August – only a few months earlier – heralding what one hopes could be a continuing trend of earlier and faster electric vehicle launches in Australia.
