French car maker Peugeot has slashed the price of its first commercial electric van in Australia, less than 10 months after its launch as the price war gripping the EV industry deepens ever further.

Peuugot launched the e-Partner with a starting price of $59,990 before on-road costs, but is now offering remaining inventory for the 2023 model year for $49,990 – a saving of almost $15,000 from the initial drive-away price.

On its website, the company lists the offer as: “For a limited time, you can get behind the wheel of the 100% electric E-Partner Van from  $49,990 Driveway”.

In 2023, Peugeot sold 71 examples of the e-Partner and sales in the first quarter of 2024 had reached 26 units, bringing the total to 97 cars over those 9 months.

The e-Partner is based on Peugeot’s EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform) and boasts a 50kW battery. This pack will deliver up to 245 km of range with every full charge.

To charge the 50 kWh battery, the e-Partner comes equipped with a 7.4 kW on-board AC charger. It can also be DC fast-charged up to 80% in 30 minutes at a 100 kW charger.

The e-Partner also has a loading capacity of 3.9 cubic meters and an overall length of 4.75 metres. Twin rear doors can be opened for ease of loading while at the depot or unloading goods at a customer site.

From an equipment point of view, it comes with a few functional features that commercial van owners will find helpful when delivering goods. These include:

  • Bluetooth® phone connectivity
  • Apple CarPlay® and Android AutoTM connectivity
  • Autonomous Emergency Braking
  • Electronic Stability Program
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Speed Sign Recognition

The electric delivery van is also covered with an 8-year/160,000 km battery warranty on top of the 5-year/200,000 km vehicle warranty from Peugeot.

The latest offer is limited to new or demo MY23 e-Partner van and runs between June 1 to June 30, 2024.

Peugeot’s offer on the e-Partner comes only weeks after it announced nearly $25,000 off the e-2008 SUV demo cars. That created a lot of buzz helping buyers make the switch to an EV sooner.

Earlier this year, the brand also announced plans to introduce its larger e-Expert van to the local lineup by the end of 2024.

The van targets more commercial customers and with limited choices on the market at the moment, some business owners may find this the right offer at the time to trial an EV in the fleet, offering emission-free customer deliveries.
