French carmaker Peugeot has announced a staggering price cut on its -2008 SUV, the first electric passenger car it has launched in the Australian market.
Peugeot launched the e-2008 SUV last year with a starting price of $59,990 before on-road costs, but less than 12 months later is now offering the EV for a driveway price of $39,990, saving a total of almost $25,000 from the initial drive-away price.Ā
āThis 100% electric compact SUV is the ideal companion for an alluring drive,” the company says on its website. “For a limited time, you can get behind the wheel of the 100% electric E-2008 GT SUV from an unmissable $39,990¹ driveaway.ā
The dramatic price cut follows other reductions by major EV makers, including Tesla, BYD and MG. Peugot’s price cut is perhaps bigger because it is not a big seller.
In 2023, Peugeot sold just 57 examples of the e-2008, and sales in the first quarter of 2024 had reached just 40 units, bringing the total to 97 cars over those 9 months.

The e-2008 comes with a 50 kWh battery pack to power a 100 kW motor with a maximum of 260 Nm of torque. This setup delivers up to 328 km WLTP range.
To charge the 50 kWh battery, the car comes equipped with an 11 kW on-board AC charger. It can also be DC fast-charged up to 80% in 30 minutes at a 100 kW charger.
From an equipment point of view, it comes with a few functional and visual features that owners may find appealing. This includes:Ā
- Keyless entry with push-button start
- Proximity locking
- Gloss black and dual chrome highlights
- Triple claw rear LED lights
While this offer covers new and demo vehicles, warranty on the new models appear to be fairly standard, offering peace of mind.

The e-2008 will come with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty which also includes five years of roadside assistance.
Servicing it over 5 years comes in the form of a servicing plan which is similar to that offered on ICE vehicles by manufacturers. Servicing costs for this electric SUV over 5 years equate to $1,522.
The latest offer is limited to new or demo MY23 e-2008 SUVs and runs between May 1 to June 30, 2024.Ā
Peugeotās offer on the e-2008 comes only weeks after BYD announced thousands off the Atto 3 extended variant. These offers are only a good thing for consumers looking at getting behind the wheel of an EV in 2024.
