I have just hit 2 years and 65,000km of EV ownership. Here are my top 20 insights, in no order.

1. Range anxiety disappears in weeks.

2. I have only paid for $400 of electricity to charge it. This has been at Fast Chargers. It takes 18mins to go from 20% to 80% and I always put in too much ⚡️whilst I wait for a coffee 😂

3. End of trip charging is the most important. Not mid trip.

4. Finding an Employer with EV charging in the office is super important. While you work it charges.

5. My EV has circa 430km of range – it’s more than enough.

6. I have never charged over night at home.

7. 65% of my charging has been at home on Solar. The rest at the office or paid.

8. You don’t need a fast charger at home. You need to be “low and slow” charging to stay within the green threshold of Solar. A smart intelligent EV charger is the best to make the most of Solar.

9. You notice the emissions of other Petrol/Diesel cars. 🤢

10. Insurance was cheaper than I thought.

11. Tires still look great after 65,000kms 🤷🏻‍♂️

12. I use charging apps like NRMA, EVIE and Plug Share. But, I use them so little, my phone deletes them 😂

13. Vehicle to Load is quite handy if you have a power cut and no ☀️& 🏡 batteries are drained. Some of the lights can stay on and the stuff in the fridge can stay cold.

14. It’s a pleasure to drive. Driving a Petrol/Diesel car feels like a Mad Max 🎥.

15. The on demand acceleration is 🔥

16. I feel more comfortable with my 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 in the car on long trips from a safety point of view. No massive hunk of metal in the front.

17. My 👰 and I now hate having to go to a petrol station with our other car.

18. Our second car will become an EV when options allow.

19. Servicing has only cost circa $1000 so far.

20. If you have read this far…you should consider buying an EV 😂🚗🚙

Two things I’m looking forward too.

1. Bi-Directional charging.

2. More 🚙 for big families and cheaper cars with more options 🤞
