Deepal unique ute-like E07 electric SUV first shipment on the way to Australia

Earlier this year, Deepal, a new brand to Australia from Chinese auto giant Changan, announced the pricing and specifications of its upcoming ute-like SUV model called the E07, and opened pre-orders.

Now, the unique car’s first batch is on a ship, bound for Australian ports, according to an update from Deepal’s local General Manager, Cormac Cafolla, which was first shared on Facebook before being re-shared on X by Roland from Zappedau.

This is exciting news for orderholders who have been eagerly waiting to get behind the wheel of the E07, with prices of the model starting at $64,900 before on-roads for the single-motor RWD variant.

The RWD variant is powered by a single motor delivering 252 kW of power and 365 Nm of torque. This helps the E07 launch from 0–100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.

For those looking for more power and faster acceleration, the top-spec dual-motor AWD comes in at $73,900 before on-roads.

This top-spec AWD dual-motor variant delivers 440 kW of power and 645 Nm of torque available to get the car from 0-100  km/h in 3.9 seconds.

Both models come equipped with a 89.98 kWh Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) battery pack, helping the RWD get 642 km of NEDC range while AWD gets 626 km. On the WLTP cycle, that’s likely to be over 550 km for both variants of the E07.

This model will also be the first for the brand in Australia to feature an 800V electrical architecture which means that it’ll have ultrafast charging, adding up to 350 km of NEDC range in just 15 minutes.

The E07 features a 300 kg payload in the bed, accompanied by a tailgate that folds flat. This is thanks to a retractable panoramic sunroof that opens up to reveal the bed of the ute.

On the inside, the E07 has many modern features, including some not seen in traditional utes or even family SUVs.

This includes zero-gravity massage seats in the front row and a 15.4-inch floating central infotainment touchscreen, which can rotate left or right by 15 degrees to face the driver. 

This is a very cool feature which is carried over from the Deepal S07 which has been available in Australia since earlier this year.

There’s also a large heads-up display, helping drivers with fewer distractions on the road and it can present a good amount of information compared to many other basic implementations we have spotted in other models.

Staying inside, the cabin features double-layered glass, making it a quieter ride on the road or when using the car for camping trips.

According to the latest update, pre-order holders will likely be able to pick their new E07 up in either late August or early September.
