The Australian arm of Chinese bus group Foton Global has announced that local purchasers of its new Foton T5 EV all-electric truck will receive a new 8-year/300,000-kilometre battery warranty.
Foton Mobility Distribution is the Australian owned distributor of new energy heavy vehicles from the Foton Global group and provides both battery electric and hydrogen fuel-cell electric commercial vehicles including trucks and buses.
The 4.5 tonne Foton T5 light duty electric truck is powered by an 82kWh CATL battery and delivers power of 64kWh with a peak of 115kW, and maximum torque of 300Nm. Fully loaded, the T5 has a range of 180 kilometres and a full suite of safety features.
With the extended warranty now available on all new orders, dealer stock, and demonstrator models, the Foton T5 EV truck also features a 5-year/200,000km general vehicle warranty.
“We are particularly proud of the Foton T5 EV, which has quickly taken a decisive sales lead in the all-electric light truck space,” said Bill Gillespie, Foton Mobility Distribution’s general manager of light duty vehicles.
“Around the world, Foton dominates the alternate fuels space with over 22,000 units produced last year alone, and with this worldwide expertise, we can stand by our products with this extended power battery warranty.
“Looking at the EV market here in Australia, this offering easily exceeds any other similar support available, allowing Foton owners to be sure they are investing in high-quality, yet affordable technology.
“Furthermore, the trucks are backed by a nationwide dealer network from Cairns to Perth, and are supported by 24/7 roadside assistance, as provided by industry leader NTI Truck Assist.”
Australian supermarket giant Woolworths has already ordered 25 new electric trucks from Foton Mobility to begin the electrification of its home delivery truck fleet.
And with its 3,500kg braked towing capacity and options for either 4,500kg total carrying capacity for car license operations or 6,000kg for light rigid licensed drivers, the T5 is available in multiple configurations, including refrigeration, tipper, and more.
DC fast charging allows full recharging in only 1.5 hours, or in 7.2 hours using the standard 11kW AC onboard charger.
