BYD has hit another production record with the delivery of over 200,000 NEVs (New Energy Vehicles) in September.Ā
At the same time, BYD on Friday has also increased prices across the ditch in New Zealand on the Atto 3 model.
BYD September production is up 15% over August
New company data from BYD shows a sharp ramp-up in production with an increase of 15% in just a month. 201,259 NEVs were produced during the month of September which includes a combination of pure EVs and plug-in hybrids.Ā

BYD is now also reporting exported production figures monthly. In September, 7,736 NEVs were exported to markets like ours here in Australia. Other export markets currently being supplied by BYD include Norway and New Zealand too.Ā
Over the coming months, thatās going to expand very quickly to other European and Asian markets.Ā
September exports saw an increase of 52% over August as BYD prepares to deliver NEVs in these markets while continuing to deliver EVs to Australia.

For the thousands of Australian order holders, the rise in export production is a positive sign of what’s to come in the not-too distant future.
New Zealand price increase starts at $2,000 NZD
Meanwhile, in New Zealand, prices on the BYD Atto 3 EV have increased in the last couple of days. The standard range model has increased by $2,500 NZD to $55,490.Ā

The extended-range model has also seen a price increase of $2,000 NZD. Thatās before on-road costs or subtracting NZās Clean Car Discount.
Australian BYD is currently a bit of a bargain
With prices of raw materials and transportation increasing, these prices are expected for more affordable EVs like those offered by BYD.Ā
Itās not only BYD indicating price increases but others like Polestar have done the same with much sharper price increases in the Chinese market.
Itās currently unclear if the price increases will follow here in Australia but given what we have seen across the ditch in New Zealand, the new BYD Atto 3 in Australia is currently a bit of a bargain for anyone looking at an affordable ground-up EV.
