BYD company reports for August show another record month of production, with sales hitting 174,915 for their new energy vehicles. It shows a consistent increase in month-over-month deliveries since February of this year.

BYD increased its production and deliveries by 185% in August when compared to the same time last year. According to company reports, a total of 174,915 new energy vehicles – mostly EVs – were delivered despite growing power constraints in China and Covid outbreaks in certain parts of the country.

There was also a 7.6% increase in deliveries when compared to the previous month of July. It’s a lower level of growth compared to the shift we saw from June to July of over 21%.Ā

The ramp-up in deliveries is a good sign as BYD enters the Australian market with many customer deliveries expected over the coming weeks.Ā

The first of the local deliveries happened on Friday at Robina on the Gold Coast. Many more deliveries are expected all around Australia over the coming weeks.

The deliveries ramp up from BYD in China seems to show that we’d be seeing thousands of these EVs on our roads over the next 12 months. Early company reports suggest that BYD Yuan Plus had over 18,265 vehicles delivered in August which is up by 282% compared to August 2021.

After test driving the new Atto 3 in Sydney last week, the quality and drive of the ground-up EV will mean that many BYD customers looking to make the switch to this EV won’t be disappointed.Ā
