Just over a month ago, I wrote about rising used Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 prices. When analysing used EV6 sales back then, no EV6s were available on the used car market.
Thatās now changed and new data shows that used Kia EV6 prices are heading in the same direction as the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
There is some hope that Kia may bring more affordable EVs into our market to put downward pressure on these rising used prices. Thatās what we will explore today.
Dealers asking nearly $110,000 for a used EV6
Prices for the new Kia EV6 increased across the board earlier this week with all models seeing an increase of $4,600. This brings the EV6 GT-line AWD model up to $95,460 driveaway.
Used EV6s are listed for up to nearly $110,000, as seen in an example in Victoria.
This list price of the GT-Line Auto was under $90,000 driveaway under the old pricing. Even with the matte option that costs $3,295, the mark-up on this car is over $15,000 before on-road costs. Given the limited supply, itās less likely that used EV6 prices will be coming down over the coming months.
More than 50% of local EV6 deliveries are the AWD model
New data from carloop of over 320 Kia EV6 local deliveries show that the most expensive GT-line AWD model still dominates the market. This model really showcases everything that this EV has to offer and boasts 484km of range from its 77kW battery.
Other models which come in the RWD configuration are less popular but that could just be what Kia Australia wants to offer to our market until more supply is made available. With used prices for EVs at an all-time high, we need more supply of affordable EVs from Kia.
Hopefully, this will change with the recently launched and reviewed Kia Niro EV, as long as Kia Australia can get us the supply our local market deserves (editor’s note: Kia says there are only 75 per month earmarked for Australia currently, including hybrids.)
