Fully Charged Live is considering coming to Australia in 2022

Leading electric vehicle channel Fully Charged – led by actor Robert Llewellyn – may bring its live electric vehicle event to Australia in 2022.

The UK-based electric vehicle news channel headed by Llewellyn, known for his roles in the UK TV shows Red Dwarf and Scrapheap Challenge fame,  has drawn 663,000 subscribers on YouTube.

The Coronavirus pandemic will mean that this year’s UK Fully Charged Live event will be postponed until 2021, but the big news for Australia is that it may come here in two years’ time.

Speaking in Fully Charged’s latest video, Llewellyn said: “We are more more seriously considering doing Fully Charged Downunder in 2022.”

Exciting stuff – while there is of course no program event as yet, expect Fully Charged electric vehicle antics including loads of electric vehicle and bike displays, clean energy tech, test drives and rides, theatre sessions with Fully Charged presenters, and expert panels.

For those in the UK who have already bought tickets for the 2020 show, tickets will be rolled over, says Llewellyn.

“The prospective socially distancing 15,000 people in a responsible way plus the enormous economic challenges ahead of us really brought us some serious concern,” he said.

“We want to deliver the best possible show not one that is really compromised by the current circumstances and as such we’re pushing back to the 18th, 19th and 20th of June 2020.”

It will not be the first time Fully Charged has been to Australia – in April 2019 Llewellyn and team visited the northern NSW town of Byron Bay and spoke with The Driven and RenewEconomy editor Giles Parkinson, about his transition from playing the character of Red Dwarf’s Kryten to becoming the face of what is arguably the most popular electric vehicle channel on the planet.

The team also checked out the Byron Bay Solar Train:

If it happens, it will be the first live event for Fully Charged in Australia, which considering the nation’s reputation for being rather slow on electric vehicles could be a great chance to whip up some real and evidence-based hype on zero emissions transport on a national scale.

In addition to the 2021 UK live event and a possible Australian event in 2022, Fully Charged will also be returning to Austin, Texas in 2021 as well as launching its first live event in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
