The latest version of the Hyundai Kona electric car has been spotted on Australian roads for the first time, just weeks ahead of its formal launch to the country’s motoring media and public.

The 2021 Hyundai Kona refresh includes slight modifications to the front end, an improved interior, and new Michelin tyres which are said to greatly improve its road handling.

It is also 40mm longer, and as Bridie Schmidt reports, its 64kWh battery includes an improved 484km driving range, a 150kW motor and 395Nm torque, with more details expected closer to the 2021 Kona EV launch.

Two models were spotted at the launch in Canberra of Australia’s first public hydrogen refuelling station, which will be used to refuel the ACT government’s fleet of Hyundai Nexo fuel cell vehicles, which share a common electric motor with the Kona.

This car photographed below is the top-end Highlander model.
