The BYD Dolphin hatchback is no longer the cheapest fully electric vehicle on sale in Australia, but remains good value against the similarly sized MG4 and GWM Ora. The Premium variant adds several interior upgrades as well as longer driving range from a 33 % larger battery.
BYD has revealed an updated Dolphin in China which features revised exterior styling and improved DC fast charging speeds, although this version may not come to Australia until 2026. BYD has also mentioned the possibility of a faster BYD Dolphin Sport variant in the future, which would sit above the Dolphin Premium in terms of price and performance.
