Tesla is known for some of the most efficient EVs in the world, with its Model 3 sedan topping multiple efficiency rankings in Australia, with a base range of 520 km on the WLTP cycle.
Now, the company has shared that it will add 7.1% to the range of its models in Europe by changing tyres, bringing the total range to 572 km. That’s up from 534 km it previously listed on its configurator there.
The range has also improved without increasing the battery size, by lowering overall consumption thanks to lower-rolling-resistance tyres.
In a post on X, Tesla’s Europe account shared: “Model 3 now comes with 572km of range (up from 534km previously), thanks to new tires”.
The latest consumption figures drop from 13 kWh to just 12.2 kWh/100 km, adding 38 km of range to the previous European range figure.
Reports out of Europe suggest that the new tyres are likely to be Giti’s new low rolling resistance spec, which will start being equipped with Model 3 vehicles in left-hand-drive markets across the continent.
It’s unclear if the new tyres will be equipped to more international markets in the coming months but knowing the company’s general rollout of improved specs, it’s likely to be before the end of this year.
Here in Australia, Tesla has not seen a price cut on the Model 3 for well over 18 months, although incentives often have been used to boost sales.
Currently, the Model 3 Premium RWD starts at $55,900 before on-roads with a range of 520 km. This Premium Long Range RWD model also launched in Australia in Q4 2025, delivering over 750 km of WLTP range and starting at $61,900 before on-road costs.
Since fuel price increases, demand for the model rose before seeing a drop in recent months.
So far, Tesla has sold 3,326 Model 3s in Australia during 2026, while the Model Y sales have surged to over 25,000 as of the end of July.
Unlike in Europe, and uniquely in Australia, all new Model 3 and Y purchases come with Tesla’s 5-year unlimited-km warranty. This warranty is up from the previous 4-year or 80,000 km warranty.
