Smart has followed the lead of other EV makers and dropped the prices of both of its electric models in an effort to boost sales early in 2025. Both Smart #1 and #3 are now on special, with driveaway prices now having the on-road costs thrown in for a limited time.
Under this offer, the #1 now starts at $54,900 for the Pro+ variant, while the #3 can be driven away from $57,900 under the Pro+ trim.
Smart #1’s Premium and Brabus variants are priced at $58,900 and $67,900, respectively, while the #3 has driveaway prices of $61,900 for the Premium variant and $70,900 for the Brabus variant.
Both models are powered by 66 kWh battery packs, which will deliver ranges of between 400 km and 455 km. All these packs have the Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese battery (NCM) battery chemistry.
For those looking for maximum range, the Premium variants on both models offer the highest ranges in the lineup.
The entry-level Pro+ variant is powered by a single motor that produces up to 200 kW of power and delivers a peak torque of 343 Nm. This helps this variant propel from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds for the #1 and 5.8 seconds for the #3.
These figures are bumped up in the top-spec Brabus variant, which comes with two motors that deliver up to 315 kW of power and 543 Nm of torque. This helps propel this SUV from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds for the #1 and 3.7 seconds for the #3.
Looking at what’s included, the Pro+ variant includes 19-inch wheels, Halo panoramic roof, advanced intelligent driving with smart auto-pilot, LED headlights, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a powered tailgate.
More equipment is added to the Premium variants such as a 640 Watts Beats sound system, faster AC charging, matrix headlights and leather upholstery.
The top-spec Brabus variants offer a sportier styling as well as sports-focused software mode. On the styling front, the red brake callipers and suede upholstery are also seen on the Brabus variant.
Smart’s #1 and #3’s pricing was originally announced in July 2024, with the official market launch in August, where the brand also globally unveiled the #5.
Customer deliveries for both models started to happen in Q4 2024, marking a milestone for the brand’s re-introduction into the Australian market. It’s still not clear on the number of vehicles delivered so far since Smart sales have not been reported.
The current offer is available to buyers in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria who take deliveries of a stocked vehicle.
It covers on-road costs, including standard vehicle registration, stamp duty, compulsory third-party (CTP) insurance and dealer delivery charges and ends on 9 February 2025.
With competition only growing in the electric SUV segment, pricing will play a big role in the success of new brands in the market.
