AMP strikes deal with Evie for charging stations at 16 major shopping centres

A new raft of electric vehicle charging stations are opening at 16 major shopping centres across Australia and New Zealand over the next month after major retail property group AMP Capital announced it was partnering with Australian EV charging operator Evie Networks.

AMP Capital, the owner of Macquarie Centre in Sydney and Gasworks Plaza in Brisbane, says the charging sites will be located at AMP Capital’s retail centres across New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, and New Zealand.

It notes that some EV charging stations are already open in NSW at Macquarie, Randwick, Marrickville Metro, Dapto, and in Victoria at Stud Park.

Evie’s network of charging stations will expand by 32 charging bays at the 16 shopping centres, with future expansion on the cards and based on demand.

“Making fast-charging a seamless part of customers’ shopping experiences will help advance our mission to accelerate the adoption of EVs in Australia,” said Chris Mills, CEO of Evie Networks.

“Being able to leverage AMPC’s centres’ strong ties to their communities across Australia and New Zealand will help create a more sustainable energy future throughout Australia.

“If we want to move towards a cleaner transport future, people need to be confident that they can travel with the knowledge they can charge whenever and wherever they need.”
