Chery, one of Australiaās fastest-growing brands, last week announced the arrival of another new sub-brand, iCaur, which will offer EVs based on a āboxyā design language.
Now, the first model has already been spotted being tested on local roads, with photos emerging, showing a silver iCaur V25 charging at a Tesla supercharger site in NSW.
The photos, which were taken by Jamie L, an EV enthusiast, were shared on the Electric Vehicles for Australia Facebook group, with the caption: āYou’ll never know what you’ll find at the Goulburn Superchargerā.
The off-roader-looking model was charging at the site, likely as part of the vehicle evaluation process.
Looking at the registration information, that specific vehicle is a V25 evaluation car, with a tare weight of 2,120 kg.
Other details are not known just yet, but this has been its first official sighting, only weeks after it was first registered.
As mentioned above, the sub-brand from Cheryās Australian arrival was confirmed last week, with the V25 model being the first to land in early 2027.
This announcement comes just months after Chery launched Lepas, a new sub-brand, with the announcement of the L6 electric SUV.
According to the brand, the iCaur V25 has a ādistinctive stylingā which refers to the boxy looks, and it continues its off-roadish theme both on the exterior and the interior.
This brand was created in 2023, and its first model, the V23 EV, has seen its popularity rise in China and parts of Asia.
The V23’s rugged, retro, boxy off-road styling is similar in size to a Suzuki Jimny, and it measures 4.22 metres long.
The arrival of iCaur brings another major sub-brand under the Chery group, with more sub-brands to likely follow.
This latest V25 model will be on display at the Everything Electric show next month in Sydney between 18-20 September.
Further details on the Australian specs, pricing and launch timing will be announced closer to the SUVās local arrival.
