Swedish electric car brand Polestar has this week unveiled a new member of the Polestar 4 family, the Polestar 4 SUV, which joins the Polestar 4 coupé, and is expected to be available to order in a majority of the company’s markets around the globe.

And maybe most interestingly, the new Polestar 4 SUV will feature a conventional rear windscreen, doing away with the digital rear-view mirror with a live camera feed.

The Polestar 4 SUV builds on the success of the Polestar 4 coupé, which is now the brand’s best selling model in Australia, overtaking the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3.

The new variant has a slightly increased electric range of up to 630 kilometres (WLTP) in rear motor variants, up from 620km in the coupé, and up to 544hp in dual motor variants.

Very few other details were given, and Polestar said that sales are planned to start in September, and it is expected to be available in Australia by the end of the year.

“Polestar 4 has quickly established itself as a favourite among our customers, and we’ve seen strong demand from drivers who want distinctive design and performance combined with great practicality,” said Michael Lohscheller, Polestar CEO.

“With Polestar 4 SUV, we’re building on that success by offering even more versatility, while staying true to the Polestar 4 character. Wrapped in a stunning design, this is a car I’ve been looking forward to sharing with the world.”
