Last year, BYD showcased a prototype of a sleek two-door electric sports car under its premium Denza brand, calling it the Z.
Since then multiple sightings of the car being tested have been reported, but nowĀ an actual photo of what appears to be the production version of this sports car has been published, revealing some details of what could be expected by the 2-door sports car.
This was shared by Thinkercar on X, showing a green Denza Z being unloaded off the back of a tow truck.
The green car is seen to be the soft top convertible version.
Although this version does not appear to have the large carbon fibre wing spoiler in the rear, it does show large alloy wheels with painted brakes.
These include larger wheels with yellow brake callipers have been spotted before in a teaser photo which also had the front spoiler view that appears to improve the Denza Zās aerodynamics.
BYD first revealed the Denza Z concept at the Shanghai auto show just over 12 months ago in April 2025.
The unveiling of what was then a concept car featured a showcase of several new technologies.
These included the DiSus-M suspension system, a foldable steering wheel, and a steer-by-wire system.
The Denza Z is not the companyās first sports car. That car is the Yangwang U9, which debuted at the Shanghai auto show in 2023 and as of last year, holds the record for fastest production car.

According to BYD, the U9 Xtreme recorded a top speed of 496.22 km/h at Germanyās ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg facility.
Getting back to the Denza Z, post concept showcase, multiple photos and videos have emerged, revealing road testing as well as testing at the iconic Nürburgring test track in Germany.
In October 2025, footage of the Denza Z testing at the Nürburgring surfaced, showing the car driving around high-speed corners of the 20.8km circuit.
With track testing underway at the end of 2025 and now in 2026 seeing non camouflage versions surfacing, BYD might not be far from fully unveiling these images showing the car in full with specs and pricing, in the months to come.
We look forward to seeing it in person and to learn more about the brand’s plans to take this electric sportscar globally.
