New Polestar 3 comes with improved charging architecture, priced from $116,700

Polestar, the Sweden-based EV maker, has announced new specs and pricing for its flagship model, the Polestar 3 luxury SUV that it first brought to this market in 2024.

The changes for the upcoming MY27 car include improvements in charging speeds of up to 350 kW, thanks to an 800 V architecture, more power and an upgraded computer in the car.

“The upgrades to Polestar 3 are so extensive, it’s like an entirely new car,” Polestar CEO Michael Lohschller said in a statement.

“With this upgrade, we continue to deliver on our commitment to add value for our customers through over-the-air software and hardware updates. The already amazing Polestar 3 is now better than ever.”

The new car, which comes in three variants, starts at $116,700 before on-roads for the Rear motor variant. This is $1,720 below the starting price of the previous model and all variants now feature the Plus Pack, which was a $9,000 option.

Polestar 3 Model Year 2026

This latest lineup, before on-roads, now comes in as:

  • Polestar 3 Rear motor – $116,700
  • Polestar 3 Dual motor – $131,100
  • Polestar 3 Performance – $146,700

Multiple packages are also available with Pilot and Plus Pack now coming as standard, while the Climate Pack, which features a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats and heated front wiper blades, comes in at $1,200.

Full list of packages, individual options and colours are provided below.

The new powertrain in the Performance configuration offers up to 500 kW. The base single Rear motor variant is tuned down to 245 kW, while the dual motor variant is rated at 400 kW.

The Rear motor variant comes with a 92 kWh battery pack, while the next two dual-motor variants bump that up to 106 kWh.

These batteries are supplied by CATL, the world’s biggest battery maker and have a new architecture that delivers 6% more efficiency over previous generation architectures.

Charging of 11 kW AC is available across all three variants while DC charging has been upped to 350 kW in the dual-motor varaints, while the single motor also sees a bump to 310 kW on the right charger.

With these faster charging capabilities, charging time has also been reduced to 22 minutes for 10-80% charge. This is 25% faster than the current model.

The latest car is available to order now from Polestar’s website.
