In late 2023, Kia launched the EV9, a highly anticipated large 7-seater electric SUV that hit the Australian market, coming in three variants.
Now, over two years later, Kia has added a fourth top-trim variant, with the new top-spec GT priced at $129,250 before on-roads, over $8,000 more than the GT-Line AWD variant.
This GT trim, according to the brand, is the most powerful and luxurious version of the EV9 so far, with its dual-motor powertrain producing up to 374 kW of power and 740 Nm of torque.
This helps propel the car from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and packs up to 510 km of WLTP range.
On the outside, the EV9 GT comes with updates to the wheels, including 21-inch black alloy wheels, as well as a digital LED grille.
Moving inside, there are also upgrades in the GT variant with second row “relaxation seats” as standard.
Like many other Kia vehicles in Australia, the EV9 GT has had a localised ride and handling evaluation done, helping it be more suited to our road conditions.
This evaluation includes suspension tuning, which takes into consideration the ride comfort for when owners take their cars off the urban roads onto rougher surfaces.
The Kia EV9 is a large 7-seater family EV with a length of 5.01 m. It comes with two powertrains with two battery packs.
The local variants of the EV9 include the standard-range RWD variant, which has a 76.1 kWh battery pack, along with a 99.8 kWh battery-equipped AWD long-range variant.
These include:
- Air RWD with 76.1 kWh battery delivering 443 km of range
- Earth AWD with 99.8 kWh battery delivering 521 km of range
- GT-Line AWD with 99.8 kWh battery delivering 505 km of range
- GT AWD (New) with 99.8 kWh battery delivering 510 km of range
