Kia reveals updated EV6 with larger battery and minimal price increase

Kia has revealed a minimal price increase of just $70 across its updated EV6 lineup, which features a larger battery, several design enhancements and improved connectivity and infotainment systems.

All variants of the updated EV6 now come with a larger 84 kWh battery, up from 77.4 kWh, that boosts WLTP driving range by up to 54 km in the entry level EV6 Air RWD and 26 km for the top-spec GT AWD.

Variant Powertrain WLTP range Range increase RRP
Air RWD Single Motor RWD 582 km 54 km $72,660
GT-Line RWD Single Motor RWD 560 km 52 km $79,660
GT-Line AWD Dual Motor AWD 522 km 38 km $87,660
GT AWD Dual Motor AWD 450 km 26 km $99,660

The updated EV6 also receives a number of subtle yet impactful design changes to bring it up to date with the rest of Kia’s EV lineup, while maintaining the sporty character the EV6 is well known for.

New headlights and DRLs up front along with three-dimensional taillights at the rear utilise Kia’s signature Star Map design language, with wing-like elements that help to give the car a wider and more dynamic appearance.

Sharper lines on the front bumper as well as new wheel designs, varying from 19-inch to 21-inch depending on the trim level, give the updated EV6 a fresh look compared to the outgoing EV6 model.

Moving inside, the EV6 features a new 3-spoke steering wheel inspired by the larger award-winning EV9. An updated centre console incorporates a sleek new finish and Kia’s fingerprint recognition technology on GT-Line and GT variants.

A horizontal design theme inside the EV6 maintains the same driver oriented layout with dual 12.3-inch screens handling driver’s display and central infotainment functions as before, but with a significant boost to the underlying technology.

The Infotainment system has been upgraded with Kia’s ccNC (Connected Car Navigation Cockpit) software, which provides enhanced graphics and addresses several shortcomings over the previous system found in the EV6.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard across the lineup, as opposed to wired versions previously. Connectivity updates also include Kia Connect which enables remote vehicle functions such as climate control, vehicle status and the ability to locate the car when parked.

Updated connectivity also adds over the air (OTA) software updates to enhance convenience, enabling new features and upgrades over time and ensuring the vehicle is always running the latest software.

Suspension and handling on the EV6 GT has been tweaked with stiffer rear sway bars and softer front springs. With this new hardware Kia Australia have retuned suspension and steering to improve ride and handling in all drive modes, offering more natural feel and better grip levels.

These improvements bring the EV6 up to date with the range of newer EVs in Kia’s lineup, offering improved driving range, design and connectivity for essentially the same price. The updated EV6 will be arriving in Kia dealerships across Australia shortly.
