Tesla has officially unveiled its latest and fastest Model Y at the Everything Electric show in Melbourne.
At the show, which ran from 14-16 November at the showgrounds, the company revealed an ultra-red example. At the same time, the company announced on its X page that a new paint will also join the lineup. This new paint will be known as Marine Blue, and for now, will be only available on the new Model Y Performance variant.
Both of these updates come within two months of the model’s release in Australia and will be the first locally available Tesla model that is manufactured at the company’s Berlin factory in Europe.
In September this year, Tesla officially launched the performance version of the refreshed Model Y in Australia, marking big upgrades over the existing Long Range variant.
This came after the previous generation of the Model Y Performance was removed from the configurator when the refreshed Model Y was launched in January 2025.
The price of the long-awaited addition to the Model Y lineup comes in at $89,400 before on-road costs. That makes this variant more than $20,500 above the existing dual-motor Long Range model.
Having said that, it comes with some serious upgrades to the performance specifications of Australia’s favourite electric SUV, having sold almost 18,000 units as of the end of October 2025.
The new Model Y Performance delivers 580 km of range, which is above the previous Performance variant’s 514 km.
Its 343 kW dual-motor powertrain helps with the car’s improved acceleration , coming in at 3.5 seconds in a 0-100 km/h sprint, down from 3.7 seconds on the previous generation car.

Outside, the new design includes a new front bumper with a more aggressive look as well as a rear carbon-fibre lip spoiler.
One key feature that stands out are the new 21-inch wheels, which replace the Uberturbine wheels found on the old cars.
Like the previously launched Model 3 Performance, the new Model Y features adaptive suspension and drive modes, only offered on top-spec Tesla models.
Moving inside, this variant features more carbon fibre on the dashboard, as well as new sports seats with improved support and comfort, including heating and ventilation.
This more performance-focused Model Y will have local deliveries start before Christmas. For new order holders, the estimated delivery date for the variant is listed as February 2026 – April 2026 on the current configurator.
