Earlier this month, Xpeng, one of the fastest-growing Chinese EV brands, unveiled another new model, the sleek new tech-driven P7, which, within 7 minutes, received over 10,000 orders.
Now the brand has officially announced the pricing of this model, starting at the equivalent of $A47,000 in China, much cheaper than originally anticipated price of around $A60,000.
Surprisingly, prices of the new P7ās top-spec dual-motor AWD model start at the equivalent $A64,600, which is quite a compelling offer in the premium sports sedan space.
Coming in four variants, all of which carry Xpengās self-developed Turing AI chip, which first featured in the recently launched G7 SUV.
The new P7 comes equipped with three of these chips, which will be used for the companyās smart driving system, also known as XNGP, as well as running the carās information system.
Coming to the battery, this model, like the new G6 SUV, features Xpengās 800 V architecture and ultra-fast charging tech. This means 10-80 % charging in under 13 minutes, thanks to its 5C charging capabilities.
The new model comes with both a short-range LFP battery pack with a 75 kWh capacity as well as a long-range model with a 92 kWh Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) battery pack.
Xpeng has now also shared that the P7 will be able to add 525 km to the carās battery during a 10-minute charging session. This, of course, will be in the CLTC range at the right charger, but we can expect it to add around 400 km of WLTP range during the same period.
There are single and dual-motor powertrains available, with the single motor variants getting from 0-100 km/h in under 5.8 seconds.
The more powerful dual-motor variant completes the same sprint in 3.7 seconds, which is very respectable given the over 5-metre-long length of the car.
This official launch and pricing announcement also came in at the same time as pre-order holders started receiving deliveries of their new car, with the first pictures being shared on the brandās Weibo page.
Earlier this month, the brand revealed that the new P7 has completed a 24-hour endurance test, completing almost 4,000 km of EV driving during that period, and setting a new record at that time.
Given the demand for this sedan and its fan base, itās likely to be heading to overseas markets in the coming years. A sign of this has been its debut at the upcoming IAA show in Europe, which has excited fans of sports sedans outside of China.
With its unique driver-focused interior and sleek styling, itās expected to do well in Xpengās global markets too.
