Swedish-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Polestar is continuing to fill out its retail network across Australia, adding five new locations since the start of the year including a new test drive and handover centre in Canberra and a new retail presence in Launceston.
Polestar launched its first EV, the electric fastback Polestar 2, in Australia in early 2022, and later that year opened its first Polestar ‘Space’ at Chadstone Shopping Centre in Melbourne’s inner-east. Polestar added its second retail location in mid-2024 at Sydney’s iconic Lower North Shore.
Since then, the company has continued to expand its retail presence across Australia, in line with the local launch of the Polestar 3 electric SUV and the Polestar 4 electric SUV coupé.
According to the company’s website, there are now 12 Polestar Spaces around the country, with five new locations added so far this year.
In addition to Chadstone and Artamon, Polestar has retail Spaces in Perth and Brisbane, and have this year added locations at Adelaide; Doncaster in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs and at Geelong; at Penrith in western Sydney; and a new test drive and handover centre in Canberra. A retail Space at Rushcutters Bay in Sydney is also now live.
An expanded network of 19 Polestar Service Points to manage maintenance and accessories has also been rolled out across the country.
“This year has already been a strong one for Polestar Australia, and we intend to keep that momentum rolling through the second half of 2025,” said Scott Maynard, managing director of Polestar Australia.
“With strong government support for EVs and a robust public charge network, the ACT is a market with huge potential for Polestar.”
The Rushcutters Bay location was relocated from its original Alexandria Space, and the Port Melbourne space has been relocated to South Yarra. Polestar also announced earlier this year that it would be upgrading its Perth location to a full Polestar Space experience.
The continued expansion of its Australian retail network isp art of Polestar’s global shift to an active seller model, and its goal of increasing retail spaces globally by 75 per cent before the end of 2026.
