Earlier this month, Tesla quietly upgraded the long-range version of the Model Y SUV in China, adding more range to kick things off in Q3, 2025.
Now, the company has done the same on its local configurator in Australia with the new Model Y Long Range coming in with 600 km of WLTP range, an increase of 49 km over its previously rated range of 551 km.
This news was shared by Tesla Owners Club Western Australia on X, hinting at the potential use of a new battery, which is in line with our reporting earlier in the month.
On the back of this news, it created a bit of buzz as itās the first time a Tesla Model Y has had a range of 600 km in the country.

At the same time, Tesla has also launched a new colour called the Diamond Black for both the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in the configurator, bringing the total number of available colours to 6 for certain variants.
This paint is currently available in both variants of the Tesla Model Y, while the Model 3 only sees this in the entry-level Rear-Wheel-Drive variant and comes at a price of $1,500.
Tesla shared this on an X post, highlighting the availability of this new paint on X while also highlighting that the colour was also now available in New Zealand.
It comes around 3 months after the paint was launched in the US and has also been available in China for sometime.
Last week, we reported new incentives that Tesla is offering in Australia to help it boost its sales this quarter.
This includes an incentive for interested buyers of a new or demo Model Y who will receive an additional $2,000 off the price of that car when trading in a used vehicle. This is available until 30 September 2025.
