The local energy utility ActewAGL has launched what it claims is Canberra’s largest mixed-use electric vehicle charging hub, located near Turner Parklands.

The newly opened ACT hub comprises a multitude of different charging ports including three CCS plugs, one CHAdeMO plug and four Type 2 sockets.

ActewAGL says it has designed the site with “broad compatibility” in mind.

“The Turner hub marks a major step forward in our mission to make EV charging simple, reliable and convenient for everyone in our region,” said ActewAGL Retail General Manager, Rachael Turner.

Funding for the Turner Hub was provided by the first round of the ACT government’s Public EV Charging Infrastructure Fund.

The new hub expands ActewAGL’s charging network to 40 individual charging points located across 12 different sites, whilst also contributing to the ACT Government’s goal of 180 public chargers before the end of this year.

“We’re pleased to expand our network in a way that meets the real-world needs of EV drivers,” added Turner.

The ACT has the highest penetration of EVs in Australia, regularly exceeding 20 per cent of new car sales, and the highest share of EVs in the existing car fleet, with 3.26 per cent of registered vehicles.
