Xpeng releases official images of its ultra-sleek luxury electric coupe

Xpeng, one of the fastest-growing Chinese EV brands, has released official pictures of its upcoming refreshed large luxury coupe, the new P7, its sleekest car so far.

Four images of the exterior design were shared on the brand’s official Weibo page with the translated version of the post saying: “What kind of shape is the next generation of Xpeng P7 that we imagine? After five years of polishing, we continue to hand in the answer sheet with “originality”! The new Xiaopeng P7 is a high-tech, fashionable luxury coupe.”

The images of the upcoming coupe showcase an aerodynamic design with a sloping roofline and a wide body.

From the front, there is a full-width light-bar as also seen on the 2025 Xpeng G6, which is the successor to the model currently being delivered in Australia.

Two vertically positioned daytime running lights on either side of the bonnet give the car a unique look.

From the side angle, multiple design features can be noted, including flush door handles on the large four-door coupe. The charge port is on the vehicle’s right-hand side, consistent with the Xpeng G6 sold in Australia.

On the side, repeater cameras for autonomous and smart driving can be spotted which blend in well with the black tone.

The car also appears to be sitting on 20-inch wheels with Xpeng’s orange calliper covers seen through the wheels.

Moving toward the rear, there is a sharp sloping roofline that blends into the lift-back boot.

The rear also features a full-width light bar and vertical tail lights, giving it a large luxurious coupe look.

Not much else is known about the specifications of the new model, but it can be noted that the existing P7 is almost 4.9 metres in length and has been in production since 2020.

The current P7 starts at under $A54,000, competing in the premium sedan market.

It comes in both Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) and Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) battery chemistry, with pack sizes ranging from 60 kWh all the way up to 81 kWh.

These deliver a NEDC range of 480 – 706 km which is likely to be 400 – 580 km on the WLTP cycle.

Detailed specifications and pricing is expected to be announced in the coming months.

The redesigned Xpeng P7 comes after 6 years since the original design was unveiled at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show.

It shows the maturity of a brand that appears to be going from strength to strength, particularly as it continues its global expansion.

Locally in Australia, the brand officially launched in December last year. During it’s time in Australia, the brand has been delivering the Xpeng G6 SUV with plans to bring other models through its Australian distributor, True EV.

With a strong focus on new products for global markets in 2025 and beyond, this new P7 is expected to be destined for international markets too, including those with right-hand-drive cars.
