Last week, Tesla launched its cheapest Cybertruck with prices starting at under $A100,000 for the single-motor RWD variant.

Now, the US company is offering discounts equivalent to more than $A16,000 off the inventory of non-Foundation series vehicles that were built in 2024, and over $A15,000 for Foundation series models.

To sweeten the deal further, buyers of these trucks with the discount will also be receiving free supercharging for life.

The latest round of discounts was reported by Tesla news and EV enthusiast Sawyer Merritt on X.

NEWS: Tesla is now offering new Cybertruck inventory discounts in the U.S. of up to $10,550 off, up from $6,000 before.

• Foundation Series (2024 model year): Up to $10,000 off

This offer is aimed at those who won’t be able to receive the US tax credits on a new Cybertruck, which equates to $US7,500 or $A11,700 with the current exchange rate.

These new incentives on the Cybertruck are clearly there to help reduce any unsold inventory ahead of production of the new, more affordable, rear-wheel-drive production, which is likely to begin shortly ahead of customer deliveries in June.

There were mixed reactions to this post with one owner saying: ā€œYeah, really trying their best to get rid of the 2024 models because of the EV tax credit. This is great discount to help with that.ā€

Others were concerned about their pre-discounted purchase: ā€œI am not loving it … I paid full price for Foundation Series CT – and did not get free charging.ā€

Without any discounts, the Cybertruck lineup and its prices start at $US69,990 for the Long Range RWD. The AWD comes in at $US79,990, while the tri-motor Cyberbeast is priced from $US99,990.

In October 2024, a year after the first deliveries of the utilitarian vehicles began, the Cybertruck became the third best-selling electric vehicle in the US in the latest quarter, outselling all other EVs except the company’s own Model 3 and Model Y.

At that time, Tesla Cybertruck sold 16,692 units in Q3 of 2024, which was over twice as many as the Ford F150 Lightning in the same time period.

Since then, Tesla has continued to ramp up production and it appears that there is inventory which needs to be sold before more affordable version makes it off the production lines.
