Zeekr, one of the fastest-growing brands under Geely Holdings, which slo owns Volvo, Polestar, Geely, Lotus and many other big automotive brands, has revealed pricing and will commence deliveries next week of its slick performance 7 GT wagon.

The pricing was much lower than originally expected. The entry-level wagon starts in China at the equivalent of Ā just under $A44,000, and the top-spec car is priced from just under $A50,000.

The entry-level also happens to be one of the fastest-charging cars in the world, thanks to Zeekr’s in-house developed Golden Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) battery, which can reach peak charging speeds of up to 500 kW.

Part of the reason it can attain these speeds is the 800 V architecture many of the newer Zeekr models are based on, which allows for ultra-fast charging speeds and newer drive train technologies.

This 75 kWh pack can charge from 10-80% in just 10.5 minutes, provided it’s charged at a powerful enough charger.Ā

This pack allows for up to 650 km of CLTC range on a single charge, but we can expect it to be closer to 570 km on the WLTP cycle.

Powering the entry level variant is a powerful 310 kW rear-mounted motor which delivers up to 440 Nm of peak torque. This variant can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in a respectable 5.2 seconds.

The more powerful dual-motor variants are given an additional 165 kW front-mounted motor, delivering a combined power output of 475 kW, and shaving the 0-100 km/h acceleration time to just 3.8 seconds.

These dual-motor variants have a Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese (NCM) 100 kWh pack, which can deliver up to 825 km of CLTC range.

On the design front, the 7 GT really focuses on buyers who are looking for practicality yet a level of sportiness in the way it looks.

With its large wheels and a sloping roof line, it’s expected to see many buyers from the traditional SUV segment move into a wagon.

On the inside, Zeekr’s minimal design along with the clever use of physical buttons for key functions, would make it an easy car to own and live with.

Along with that, there is a screen behind the steering wheel as well as a large heads up display to help drivers keep their eyes on the road.

Last month, we reported on a vehicle that stood out in terms of its head-turning abilities at the Everything Electric Show. That was the 007 sleek sedan which was on display for attendees to see and experience.

Now, this wagon version will be heading to international markets as the brand aims for global expansion, including in markets like Australia.

Locally, Zeekr currently offers the small electric SUV, the X, and a luxury people mover, the 009.

The brand has plans to launch the highly anticipated 7X SUV in the second half of 2025.

In an era where electric vehicles are expanding in all segments, wagons are a much needed segment for practical enthusiasts.

Given the lack of electric wagon options, apart from a few luxury offerings such as the Porsche Taycan Cross Tourismo and BMW i5 Touring, the new 7 GT at its launch pricing will give the other brands a run for their money, especially as Zeekr rapidly expands globally.
