Smart charging company introduces multi-car charging function in Australia

London based smart charging company Ohme has launched its MultiCar function for Australian customers, app functionality which allows users to charge more than one electric vehicle (EV).

Ohme, which was founded in 2017 but launched in Australia in May of 2024, is one of the world’s fastest growing EV charging companies, offering two residential chargers to customers – the Ohme ePod and the Ohme Home Pro.

Both Ohme chargers provide customers with a smart charging system that enables choice of charging at off-peak times and integrates relevant energy tariffs and load balancing.

Now, Ohme is launching its MultiCar app functionality for Australian customers, giving users the ability to add more than one EV to their account, enabling them to switch between cars when choosing which one to charge.

MultiCar simplifies charging more than one EV and ensures drivers can charge their EVs according to their needs and preferences. Individual data for each vehicle will be available on the account, providing a full breakdown of charging sessions showing kWh of charge and costs broken down by day, month, or year.

Savings details for each vehicle in both dollars and CO2 for both solar and smart charging is also available in the app.

This means Ohme users can more easily differentiate between personal and company cars and better understand the associated charging costs for each vehicle.

Ohme’s MultiCar app functionality also allows visitors with an EV to be easily added to the account.

“This new MultiCar function in our app is a great example of those and a major step forward for those households with more than one EV, which will inevitably grow in the future,” said Matthew Evans, head of mobility at Ohme Australia.

“This addition to our app just underlines how Ohme always strives to ensure that no driver is left behind in the e-mobility transition.”
