Xiaomi, the world’s leading phone maker, has upped its already high production target for 2025 by more than 15%, in a quest to supercharge production of its extremely popular EVs.

The company’s CEO, Lei Jun, shared the latest production target on both Weibo and on X by saying: the company will now target the delivery of 350,000 fully electric vehicles in 2025.

This news comes just days after the company delivered the 200,000th vehicle in its first year of production of its very popular debutant model, SU7 electric sedan.

The delivery of this magenta SU7 was shared on Xiaomi’s social media pages and reshared by ThinkerCar on X.

The 200,000 vehicle delivery milestone comes less than 3 months into 2025. As of the end of 2024, the company had already exceeded production targets by delivering 135,000 cars in just over 9 months.

An additional 65,000 cars have been delivered in just over two and a half months, setting the stage for breaking the 300,000 production target for 2025 it set in the beginning of this year.

Part of the 2025’s production target will include the company’s upcoming highly anticipated electric SUV model.

The company’s new SUV model, YU7, was announced by Jun himself on 10th December.

The YU7 is expected to have first customer deliveries by June or July this year as the brand ramps up its production capabilities with the opening of multiple new manufacturing facilities.

Last month, Jun himself was one of the drivers of a convoy of YU7 vehicles that travelled 1,310 km along highways and other roads, testing the range of the EVs and its autonomous driving technology.

Earlier this month, Xiaomi, unveiled the most powerful version of its SU7, the ultra, which has already beaten multiple track laptimes in China. It’s now headed to the iconic Nürburgring track in Germany to have another crack at setting a lap record.

Previously, Xiaomi surprised everyone after setting a track record with a prototype version of the Ultra last year but given the production model is now available, it’s revisiting the track to see if it’s capable of dethroning Porsche’s EV lap record of 7 minutes and 7 seconds.
