Geely, one of the newest brands in the Australia market, last week launched the EX5 electric SUV into the Australian and New Zealand markets, and revealed the scale of its ambition with plans to build a dealership network across more than 100 sites in the coming years.
A few days later, the company has just announced its initial network of 22 dealerships across the country, making it already one of the fastest-growing brands in terms of retail locations.
These dealerships will be dealing with customer enquiries, test drives and customer deliveries of the well-priced EX5 electric SUV – $40,990 before on-roads, starting this month.
“We are excited to bring models like the EX5 to the market through our newly established dealer network,” Lei Li, the CEO of Geely Auto Australia, said in a statement.
“We’re not only introducing new vehicles to enrich the lives of consumers in Australia, but also building a brand that represents quality, innovation, and trust in these markets.”
The Geely EX5 will be available in two variants, with prices starting at $40,990 for the Complete variant, followed by the top-spec Inspire, which is priced from $44,990 before on-road costs.
To get early customer orders, Geely has currently got a launch offer for those taking deliveries of the EX5 before 30 April, which includes:
- One-year complimentary public charging and a free 7kW AC charger for home, excluding installation
- Three years of complimentary scheduled servicing
- Upgrade to metallic paint
- 12 months of complimentary roadside assistance
- 3.88% comparison rate on finance
The EX5 is a relatively new model in the brand’s lineup with the company started delivering the model in China during the second half of 2024.
Last month, the company opened pre-orders of this fairly spacious family electric SUV, which comes in at 4,615 mm, making it larger than the other popular, affordable electric SUVs like the BYD Atto 3.
In Australia and New Zealand, the EX5 will be offered with a 60.22 kWh that can deliver 430 km of WLTP range.
On the charging front, this battery from 30-80% will take roughly 20 minutes, thanks to a 100 kW peak DC charging speed, making it a fairly decent car for road trips.
When it comes to AC charging, 11 kW of AC charging will be available along with a vehicle-to-load (V2L) discharge rate of up to 3.3 kW.
With two local variants of the new model priced aggressively compared to other electric SUVs and a growing dealership network, the EX5 is looking like a good contender for drivers looking at making the switch from an ICE vehicle in 2025.
