Geely announces aggressive pricing on EX5, its first Australian EV starting at $40,990

Geely, one of the latest brands to hit the Australian market has announced pricing of its first electric SUV model, the EX5, at the brand’s Australia and New Zealand launch in Sydney on Tuesday night.

Pricing on the EX5 will officially start at $40,990 for the entry-level Complete variant, while the top-trim Inspire variant comes in at $44,990 before on-roads. These prices are lower than what was previously expected.

Mr Li Lei, CEO of Geely Auto Australia: “We have a long-term plan for Australia and are fully committed to bringing both vehicles and mobility solutions to Australia that not only suit consumer needs but also offer accessible value,” said Li Lei, CEO of Geely Auto Australia.

“The EX5 Complete offers a well-rounded package that does not compromise when it comes to safety, technology features, and premium experience. The Inspire adds extra feature ‘perks’ that enhance the driving experience and comfort for all occupants. We can’t wait to see the EX5 out on Australian roads being experienced, driven and lived with every single day.”

Along with the pricing, Geely also announced another launch offer for early customers. Those who order before 30 April will receive the following:

  • One-year complimentary public charging
  • Complimentary 7kW home charger (excluding installation)
  • 3.88% comparison rate finance
  • Three years of complimentary scheduled servicing
  • Upgrade to premium paint

On the warranty and servicing front, Geely will be offering a 7-year, unlimited-kilometre standard warranty along with an 8-year, unlimited-kilometre high-voltage battery warranty.

There will also be a 7-year Assured Service pricing, similar to capped price servicing offered by other brands.

Geely will also offer 7 years of complimentary roadside assistance when serviced within the Geely dealer network.

Each car will also be equipped with 2 years of complimentary car connectivity as well as the availability of pre-paid service plans that owners can purchase.

On top of the pricing and EX5 inclusions, Geely also unveiled its market growth plans, with 20 dealers on board for the brand before expanding it to 100 dealers in the coming years.

That growth in the dealership network will make Geely’s network one of the most extensive and on par with many of the top 10 car brands in the country.

Speaking of dealerships, the new EX5 will be available in dealers for test drives, and the network is ready to take orders and test-drive vehicles starting today (Wednesday).

Having driven the EX5 in recent weeks on Australian roads, it’s quite a compelling offering, especially at those prices, making it one of the best-value electric SUVs on the market and setting a new benchmark for pricing and inclusions in the passenger EV segment.
