Zeekr, one of Australia’s newest EV brands, is aiming to debut two models at the Everything Electric show, including the world’s fastest-charging production EV, the Zeekr 7X electric SUV, as well as one of the most unique production vehicles in the world, the Zeekr Mix.
The Zeekr 7X and the Mix will be the highlight of the show on Zeekr’s stand alongside the Zeekr 007 performance sedan, 001 FR, 009 people mover and the X, a practical premium SUV.
Coming back to the 7X and the Mix which will be featuring Zeekr’s Golden battery technology, designed to charge from 10-80% in just over 10 minutes. This has been tested in the real world by many independent EV enthusiasts.
The Zeekr 7X is now available to order in Europe and is expected to arrive in Australia in the second half of this year. There are three variants, including a RWD, Long Range RWD as well as the top-spec Performance AWD variant.
The Performance AWD packs a punch with an acceleration of 0-100 km/h, which happens in just 3.8 seconds. This is down from 6 seconds in the RWD model with the Golden battery, known for its rapid charging speeds.
Regarding batteries, the Zeekr 7X comes with a 75 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) pack. There is also the pack found in the Long Range variants which is a larger 100 kWh of Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery.
Range-wise, the RWD offers 480 km of WLTP range on a single charge while the Long Range RWD bumps that to 615 km. On the top-spec Performance AWD variant, it drops back to 543 km.
The Zeekr 7X is designed for comfort, performance and practicality. It comes equipped with lots of clever storage features, including 32 separate compartments and 616-litres of boot space as well.
Moving onto the Zeekr Mix which will also be making its Australian debut starting this Friday at the event in Sydney.
This car has some of the most innovative features yet seen in an electric car – including super fast charging, swivel seats, the removal of the traditional B pillars, and a new way to get the most out of a car that’s designed to rethink the way we use cars.
This model is derived from a Robotaxi vehicle the company has been working on for Google’s Waymo program, and it will be debuted in Australia in the coming days.
A model like the Mix is a cross between an SUV and a people mover, with fast-charging technology that can charge the car from 10-80% in just 10.5 minutes. That’s faster than any car available locally and targets families that adventure along when on the road.
A unique element on the Mix is how people get in and out of the car. It features an industry-first 1.48-metre wide entrance door, made possible with a dual sliding door and the removal of the traditional B-pillar.
The B-pillar is hidden in the Mix thanks to the dual B-pillar design which is part of the sliding doors themselves.
To add to the structural integrity of the vehicle, there are two ultra-high-strength steel pillars made from 2000 megapascal hot-formed steel. These are then fortified with a unique manufacturing process before being integrated into doors.
This process adds 30% more strength than the conventional hot-formed steel, making it one of the safest people movers on the market.
On the inside, the innovation continues with seats allowing you to face your passengers and turn it into an EV designed for families on the road. This is made possible due to the unique front-row seat design, which can swivel 270 degrees.
In China, the Zeekr Mix is available in just two variants, which include a rear-wheel drive powertrain with 310 kW of power and 440 Nm of torque. This helps get the Mix from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.
That’s the base model with a 76 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery that can deliver up to 550 km of CLTC range. This is the same pack that’s been designed by Zeekr to fast charge at 10-80% in 10.5 minutes.
The Zeekr 7X, the Mix, 001 FR and the 007 performance sedan will all be on display in left-hand-drive configurations. All of which will turn heads given how unique they are in the Australian EV landscape.
Zeekr will also be offering test drives of select models at the Everything Electric event, which runs from 7-9 March at Sydney Olympic Park.
