Xpeng, one of the newest EV brands in Australia, launched the G6 electric SUV in December as part of the official brand launch in Sydney. Now, the company has updated the model with a new version, the 2025 Xpeng G6.

The price of the refreshed G6 is still being kept under wraps, although the company has started taking orders in China.

For reference, the current model G6 prices range between $A44,300 – $A$61,300. Meanwhile, local variants of the G6 is available in the Long Range variant, starting at under $55,000.

As for what’s new, there are various new changes, including updated battery packs, which are now 68.5 kWh Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) and 80.8 kWh Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) battery pack.

The current model of the local G6 offers 66 kWh and 87.5 kWh battery, providing a WLTP range of up to 570 km in the long-range variant.

Other key changes include a new light bar at the front of the car, updated bumpers, a new light strip with a spoiler at the rear, new paint options after removing Orange from the lineup, new wheels, ambient lighting with an upgraded interior, bigger centre-screen and more.

The car is also slightly longer, with 5 mm added, bringing the total length of the car to 4,758 mm.

This new model can now be pre-ordered in China, with the official launch sometime in March, ahead of the Shanghai Auto Show in April.

The G6 model was first unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in 2023 and was dubbed the brand’s most important car. The first customer deliveries of this model to Chinese customers started in the second half of the year.

For the right-hand-drive markets like Hong Kong and Australia, deliveries of the first Xpeng models will begin in the second half of 2025.

In recent weeks, Xpeng has expanded into more right-hand-drive markets like the UK, starting with the G6 again as the market-entry model.

This highlights the importance of this model and the significance of the upgraded model, which is destined for more international markets than the current generation.

Last week, Xpeng once again started offering a 10-year complimentary warranty as part of a limited-time special offer to new customers to boost local G6 sales.

Xpeng’s local distributor, True EV, is also investing heavily in the Australian market by planning to have over 20 showrooms opened across the country in the next 12 months.

The timing and local launch of the upgraded G6 is still unknown, but given that no pricing is available in China, it’s unlikely that we will see it land locally until the second half of 2025.
