New Zealand electric motorcycle manufacturer FTN Motion says it will launch its two Streetdog bikes in Australia in March with an initial run of 50 bikes that are already available for pre-order and selling quickly.

FTN Motion, which was founded in 2020, has made a strong start over the last few years, selling more than 200 electric motorcycles across New Zealand in limited production runs.

The company sold out the first production run of 100 of its Streetdog50 urban electric motorcycle in 2021, and earlier this year sold out the initial production run of 50 of its latest model, the Streetdog80.

FTN Motion is now bringing the Streetdog to Australia with an initial production run of 50 units. However, with pre-orders already open, over 40 units have already been reserved.

The Streetdog80, which starts from $12,950 (including on-road costs), delivers a top speed of 80km/h and a range of up to 80km. The Streetdog50, as the name suggests, maxes out at a top speed of only 50km/h but offers up to 100km range and a starting price of $11,260 (including on-road costs).

Both the Streetdog50 and 80 feature the ability to install a second battery, helping to expand the range up to 180km and 140km, respectively.

Pre-order reservations require only a $100 refundable deposit and will ensure a test ride before production begins in April, as well as the option to configure your own model.

FTN Motion will also be attending the Everything Electric Expo in Sydney from March 7 to 9 and will be hosting test rides in Sydney from March 11 to 12, and in Melbourne from March 14 to 15.

“It’s fantastic to see such strong interest from Australian customers,” said Kendall Bristow, FTN Motion founder.

“With traffic congestion and parking becoming increasingly problematic, more people are looking for fast, fun, and environmentally friendly ways to get around. It’s exciting to see how many are embracing the Streetdog as a solution for urban travel.”

Both the Streetdog50 and Streetdog80 are available for order and configuration here, with FTN Motion’s website suggesting deliveries to Australia will start in July.
