Benedetto Vigna, the CEO of one of the world’s most iconic carmakers, Ferrari, has promised the Prancing Horse will debut its much-awaited electric vehicle (EV) in October.
Vigna promised journalists on Tuesday that the electric Ferrari would be debuted at a capital markets day on October 9 at the company’s Italian headquarters at Maranello.
The electric Ferrari is one of six new models the company is planning to release this year, according to Vigna, who reassured investors that his company would not be affected by the increasingly hostile policies of the new Trump administration in the United States, nor by the risk of a trade war.
While not the first electrified vehicle Ferrari has made – it has offered hybrid models since 2019, which accounted for 51 per cent of the carmaker’s sales in 2024 – this will be the first fully electric car from what is arguably one of the world’s most recognisable brands.
And, while there is not a guarantee of a crossover with Ferrari’s Formula 1 team, the arrival of seven-time World Drivers’ Champion Lewis Hamilton to the team’s lineup could certainly add an added level of drama to the EV’s unveiling.
While the exact specifics of what Ferrari is planning is unknown, what is understood to be prototypes of the electric Ferrari have been spotted around Maranello.
According to one source, the video posted on Instagram showed the electric Ferrari disguised with the front of a Ferrari Roma granted onto the body of a Maserati Levante SUV.
The video was accompanied by a number of photos of the ‘mule’, which could hint at a possible hatchback electric Ferrari – or could just be an elaborate ruse so that Ferrari can test out the drivetrain.
