Chery has extended its price cut offer of $6,000 off the Omoda E5, first announced in January, keeping its Omoda E5 SUV one of the cheapest in the country.

The extended offer sees the E5 start at $36,990 before on-road costs, down $6,000 over the launch pricing as part of its ā€œ2nd Year Anniversaryā€ special. This gives it a driveaway price of $40,300 in NSW.

The top-trim EX variant is now priced from $43,390 driveaway in NSW and includes premium features over the base model.

Both models share the drivetrain and battery and can deliver up to 430 km of WLTP range. This exceeds the BYD Atto 3 Extended variant’s WLTP range figure of 420 km.Ā

This range is thanks to the 61 kWh Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) battery pack. An AC charge rate of up to 9.9 kW can be achieved on a three-phase charger, making it one of the fastest-charging AC models under $40,000.

On fast charging, it can see speeds of up to 80 kW at the right high-powered charger, helping charge the car from 30-80% in 28 minutes.

Looking into the features each variant brings, the entry-level BX variant is quite well-equipped with key features, including:

  • Dual 12.3-inch screens
  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • 50W wireless phone charger

Moving up to the top EX trim, customers can get a powered sunroof, powered tailgate, leatherette upholstery, ambient interior lighting, 360-degree camera and 8-speaker sound system.

The Omoda E5 also ticks the boxes on the safety front,Ā receivingĀ a 5-star ANCAP safety rating in 2024.

There is also a 7-year and unlimited kilometre warranty available for the car itself, along with 7-year capped price servicing and up to 7 years of roadside assistance.

On the other hand, the battery pack is covered by an 8-year and unlimited-kilometre warranty, which is on par with other industry players.

MG has also cut prices on its ZS EV Essence model, which now has a driveaway offer of $36,990. That model has a smaller 51.1 kWh battery pack and delivers around 110 km less range than the Omoda E5.Ā

The previous offer did not have an end date, but the new extended offer will end on 31 March 2025. Potential buyers can visit a local Chery dealer or check out the brand’s local website.

With multiple EV options now being offered under $40,000, 2025 will be a great year for those buyers looking at making the switch.Ā

Many buyers can also benefit from FBT exemption under a novated lease or the federal government’s recently announced cut-price loans scheme for low-income and frontline workers, helping make EVs more accessible than ever.
